बाढ़ की चपेट में केरल (फोटो साभार - आउटलुक)देश के दक्षिणी-पश्चिमी हिस्से में मालाबार तट पर करीब 39000 वर्ग किलोमीटर क्षेत्रफल में एक बेहद खूबसूरत सूबा बसा हुआ है। नाम है केरल। इस राज्य की खूबसूरती ही है कि इसे ‘ईश्वर का अपना देश’ भी कहा जाता है।

केरल बाढ़ (फोटो साभार - इण्डियन एक्सप्रेस)केरल की बाढ़, राज्य में लगभग 100 वर्षों के दौरान आई सबसे बड़ी प्राकृतिक आपदा है। सरकारी सूचनाओं पर यदि गौर करें तो इससे पूर्व 1924 में राज्य को भीषण बाढ़ का सामना करना पड़ा था।

धरती की आबोहवा बदल रही है और भविष्य में खाद्यान्न की उपज खतरे में है। 132 करोड़ की जनसंख्या वाले देश के नीति-नियन्ता और वैज्ञानिक परेशान हैं कि बढ़ती आबादी, शहरीकरण, जलवायु परिवर्तन और पर्यावरण के गिरते स्तर के कारण फसलोत्पादन में होने वाली गिरावट को कैसे रोका जाये।
