झांसी के 82 एकड़ के प्राचीन लक्ष्मी-तालाब और 490 एकड़ के नगर-पार्क के अतिक्रमण पर कार्यवाही न करने पर', NGT नाराज
झांसी। सरकार से लगातार अतिक्रमण की शिकायत से थक-हारकर एनजीटी के दरवाजे पर जाना मजबूरी बन गई है। झांसी के एडवोकेट बीएल भाष्कर, गिरजा शंकर राय, नरेन्द्र कुशवाहा की याचिका 165/2021 पर लगातार खेल जारी है। लगभग 82 एकड़ के नगरीय क्षेत्र के प्राचीन लक्ष्मीतालाब और 490 एकड़ के नगर-पार्क की भूमि पर बडे़ पैमाने पर अवैध कब्जे हैं। एनजीटी ने तालाब और नगर-पार्क की भूमि को कब्जामुक्त किये जाने के आदेश दिये थे। एनजीटी के आदेश पर नगर निगम और ‘झांसी विकास प्राधिकरण’ ने कुछ सात धार्मिक स्थलों को चिंहित कर उन्हें नोटिस जारी कर दिया। निजी बिल्डरों की ज़मीन के बारे में कार्रवाई करने की बजाय ‘ प्राचीन धार्मिक स्थलों’ के आड़ में प्राधिकरण अवैध भू-माफियाओं को बचाने में लगा हुआ है।

 In their rush to notify buffer areas, which the Court directs should be done within three weeks, state governments are bypassing and violating the processes laid out in the Wild Life Protection Act and the Forest Rights Act. The Amicus Curae (Raj Panjwani) does not seem to be adequately informing the Court on these violations.

Bangladesh shares 54 rivers with India. Viability of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in India: Study of Chanju CDM project in Chamba district,Himachal Pradesh
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is introduced by US government as flexibility mechanisms under Kyoto Protocol and allows developed countries to meet their emission reduction commitments by promoting clean development in developing countries. As a policy mandate, it aims to design project-based mechanisms to reduce emissions. These reductions are produced and then subtracted against a hypothetical baseline of emissions which are predicted to occur in the absence of a particular CDM project. India as a signatory of this protocol have been registered 2313 projects up to August 2010, out of these, 64 projects are of hydro power generation and Chanju power project of 36 MW is one of the CDM project in India. Dr Mohinder Kumar Slariya in this article showcases the primary data research based view point, which he presented in the "International Scientific Conference" at Hohenheim University, Germany.

The introduction of high yielding varieties (HYV) technology in mid- 1960s yielded spectacular results in foodgrains production. However, growth in productivity is slowing down in many states while the scope for expanding the area under cultivation as well as irrigation is limited. The Supreme Court of India has in its judgment of 27 February 2012 on the interlinking of rivers project, given categorical directions to the Executive Government to implement the ‘project’ as a whole in a time bound manner and has also asked the Centre to appoint a Special Committee to work out the modalities and oversee the implementation of the project.
Critical review of the impacts, challenges, prospects and conflict management for vitally needed inter-linking of rivers in India
Hon’ble Supreme Court in its judgment of 27th February 2012, directed union and concerned states governments, to implement ambitious interlinking of the rivers project (ILR) in a time bound manner and also asked Union Government to appoint a high-powered committee for planning and implementation of the project. Social tensions, political instability and street fights are already being experienced in India, on account of fast deteriorating situation of availability of qualitative water in adequate quantity.
This article presents a critical review of basic objectives, controversies, social & ecological impacts besides concrete suggestions to overcome the blockades in Inter-basin Transfer of Water (IBTW), now commonly known as Inter-linking of Rivers (ILR).
