Dakshin Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation based at Bangalore, with a mission to inform and advocate conservation and natural resource management, while promoting and supporting sustainable livelihoods, social development and environmental justice.

The Coastal and Marine Programme (CMP) at Dakshin works towards supporting coastal networks of community organisations, fishworker unions and associations and civil society groups interested in conservation and development issues in coastal India.

The South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) is a regional network that provides research support to South Asian researchers and institutions interested in the inter-connection among development, natural resource use and the environment. SANDEE is currently inviting research pre-proposals on the Economics of Natural Resource Use and Environmental Change in South Asia. Concept notes, if accepted, will lead to an invitation to submit a full research proposal.

VIKSAT (Vikram Sarabhai Centre for Development Interaction), established in 1977, is an activity of the Nehru Foundation for Development (NFD), Ahmedabad. VIKSAT, engaged in promotion of participatory management of natural resources, believes that the goal of sustainability in natural resources development and management can be achieved only through decisive participation of the local communities aided by an enabling role of the government agencies.

Villgro empowers rural development by identifying and incubating innovations that can be translated to market based models thus impacting thousands of rural households. In efforts to impact rural life, we actively promote social entrepreneurship and work with different stakeholders to create and support an eco-system that empowers social entrepreneurship by means of seed funding, mentoring, networking and recognition.

The Villgro Fellowship is a 1 year program that aims to cultivate a pipeline of future leaders, who have the social commitment, leadership and operational skills to bring about permanent change in rural India, using principles of social entrepreneurship, while filling a critical talent gap within Villgro’s incubatee companies. In the last 3 years, 14 Villgro Fellows have brought about sustainable change in the lives of the rural poor, inspiring many more to join them in this movement for change.

This pan-Indian outreach effort involved dialogues with tens of thousands of citizens, demanding that the nation should devote urgent attention to the continuing agricultural crisis and allocate highest priority to the agriculture sector, ending decades of neglect.
