Dakshin Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation based at Bangalore, with a mission to inform and advocate conservation and natural resource management, while promoting and supporting sustainable livelihoods, social development and environmental justice.
The Coastal and Marine Programme (CMP) at Dakshin works towards supporting coastal networks of community organisations, fishworker unions and associations and civil society groups interested in conservation and development issues in coastal India.
Position and responsibilities:
We invite applications from suitable candidates for a full-time, contractual position of Programme Officer- Coastal Networks and Environmental Governance. Our requirement is for a dynamic and highly motivated individual who will fulfill the following responsibilities of this position:
- Plan and oversee the execution of coastal network strengthening interventions including capacity sharing activities and specific campaign actions;
- Develop proposals geared towards supporting specific priorities of coastal networks, administer projects and grants;
- Oversee research related to environmental governance and coastal communities;
- Contribute towards greater interdisciplinarity at Dakshin by closely interacting and coordinating with
other CMP components related to biodiversity monitoring and education.
Qualification:
The qualifications/skills required are: A good understanding of issues related to environmental governance, conservation and development issues in coastal areas in particular, experience and ability to work with civil society networks with a diversity of memberships including fish worker associations, research organizations and urban and rural advocacy groups in India, a master’s degree, preferably in an environment related discipline.
