Seawater entering coastal towns in Goa causes big problems
Posted on 01 Jul, 2013 03:18 PMIndia waterportal’s data finder has over 300 datasets. A non-data or non-analytics person can feel overwhelmed trying to pull out important information and understand it. A data story will help do just that.

A 'green' house like no other!
Posted on 01 Jul, 2013 02:50 PM“I want to live in a house like this!” was my first thought when I entered Vishwanath’s home. (Vishwanath is Founder, Director of Biome Solutions). My colleague and I had gone to visit his house to see and understand how he has implemented ranwater harvesting systems and other green initiatives there.

Sustainable living: it's simple!
Posted on 26 Jun, 2013 04:00 PMOasis Breeze and Mana Sarovar Apartments are two apartment complexes like any other in Bangalore. They have a huge water problem. Residents use water without realising how much they are wasting and depend on water tankers without realising how much they are using. To monitor better usage, individual water meters were set up in each household of the apartments.

Rain rain go away, our cities can't keep the water at bay!
Posted on 17 Jun, 2013 06:32 PMBreaking news! The monsoon is here! It hit Kerala on June 1 and with that put an end to newspapers stories on drought in India highlighted by pictures of farmers standing on cracked earth and staring up at the sunny skies. However, very soon there will be Page-1 picture spreads of water-logged cities with traffic jams and harried people titled "The city is drowning"!

Crop cultivation or construction - tough choice in Andhra Pradesh
Posted on 17 Jun, 2013 05:29 PMThe construction industry went through a boom in the 1990s due to more people demanding and affording houses. This put a lot of pressure on the Pennar area in Andhra Pradesh. Sandmining, which is the process of taking sand, became rampant at that time.

Celebrating Uttarakhand
Posted on 17 Jun, 2013 05:14 PMThroughout history, the Uttarakhand Himalayas have been a source of timber and water to the rest of the nation. However, this has led to severe depletion of resources in the state. Today, the mountain communities find it hard to meet their basic needs of fodder, fuel and water.
