Intergrated hydrological water data books - CWCIntegrated Hydrological Data Books are a compendium of important hydrological information of twelve non-classified basins (i.e., other than Ganga and Brahmaputra) consolidated at the national level by the Central Water Commission (CWC).

It covers basic hydrological data on gauge, discharge, silt, sedimentation and water quality collected on a regular basis by the CWC regional field offices, who document it in the form of a Water Year Book, Sediment Year Book and Water Quality Year Book. These along with the relevant land use statistics collected by the Ministry of Agriculture are integrated into this Data Book.

The information is of use to planners, researchers, policy makers and the public at large.

Aggregated news from various media on Orissa floods Posted on 30 Jul, 2010 12:55 PM

Odisha Water ForumRiver Basin TransactWater Conflicts

We had mentioned while dispatching our 1st Issue of River Basin Transact  that the present pace and direction of development bandwagon in Odisha, made it imperative for its civil society and citizens alike to give more attention to its rivers, before it became too late.

During this quarter (Apr-Jun), there are quite a few such civil society responses towards redefining the way our rivers are being managed. While Dakshin Odisha Vikash Parishad (DOVP) came up with a suggestion to have Integrated River Valley Project in line of TVA in USA to manage South Orissan Rivers, State Govt resolved not to allow any new industry to draw water from the Brahmani and the Baitarani. Towards the end of the quarter alignment of civil society and political parties around MBA (Mahanadi Banchao Andolan) to protest diversion of Mahanadi water to POSCO and IOC made the headlines local dailies.

Interpolation of groundwater levels using kriging in Sagar district – A research report by National Institute of Hydrology
In this report, an application of kriging technique is presented for interpolation of groundwater levels in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Posted on 28 Jul, 2010 03:14 PM

In this report, an application of kriging technique is presented for interpolation of groundwater levels in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Groundwater management is important to meet the increasing demand for domestic, agricultural and industrial use. Various management measures need to know the spatial and temporal behavior of groundwater. Most of the groundwater models require the inputs to be available on a grid pattern. However in the field, these parameters are generally measured at random points. However, interpolation of parameters at the grid nodes is a prerequisite for using this data in groundwater modeling.
