This manual is based on the work that PRIA was involved in that included facilitating the process of social development and monitoring, and for guiding the process of developing models for community monitoring linked to community action, for child survival and development in six project sites in India.

This manual is divided into three key sections:

It argues that among the water challenges in the 21st century, the water quality health nexus is one of the most serious challenges that will need to be addressed at an urgent level.The paper directs attention at the rapid and unequal growth and development patterns emerging in developing economies and the impact of this development on the environment and human populations. The paper directs attention to the negative impact of this development on one of the important natural resources such as water and the linkages between water quality and public health of populations.

This paper published in the Economic and Political Weekly argues that the transformation of human settlements over time can affect the relationship between communities and commons when, for example, social geographies change from rural to urban, or from traditional systems of management to modern bureaucratic systems.

Public Health Engineering Department, Government of West Bengal in collaboration with Ministry of Drinking water and sanitation, Government of India is organizing an “International Conference on Water Quality with Special reference to Arsenic” in Kolkata on February 18-19, 2012 followed by a field visit on February 20, 2012. Gujarat Institute of Desert Ecology (GUIDE) will catalyse the process of ameliorating hardships to human beings in desert ecosystems of Gujarat, following sound ecological principles and carefully using scientific knowledge, imaginative technology and capital.

Centre for Women's Development and Research (CWDR) recognizes the importance of female-led organizations to improve women's issues.CWDR's goal was to serve marginalized , vulnerable communities of women in the slums of chennai and surrounding communities. Through education, organization, and advocacy, CWDR focuses on empowering three populations in particular: domestic workers, single women, and adolescent girls.
