The Institute of Rural Research and Development (IRRAD) is an initiative of S M Sehgal Foundation, a leading nonprofit organization working towards furthering rural development in India. It envisions rural people across India motivated and empowered to make their lives more secure and prosperous. IRRAD designs, tests and replicates scalable community-based models for rural development in the areas of water management, agriculture, sanitation, governance and education. It also builds capacities of communities and community-based institutions to enable them to undertake their own development.

Sehgal Foundation dedicated to creating a brighter future for India’s rural communities. We envision rural people across India motivated and empowered to make their lives more secure and prosperous. IRRAD designs, tests and replicates scalable community-based models for rural development in the areas of water management, agriculture, sanitation, governance and education. It also builds capacities of communities and community-based institutions to enable them to undertake their own development. These initiatives are transformed into action through IRRAD’s four centers: Natural Resource Management, Policy, Governance & Advocacy Capacity Building, and Rural Research Center. Most of IRRAD’s field work is focused in 206 villages of Mewat (Haryana), one of the most backward regions in India.

As a result of this, about 30% reduction in water consumption was achieved covering about 1100 acres in 5 states. Farmers could also reduce their production costs by upto Rs.1400/acre.

The Sehgal Foundation is one of the leading nonprofit organizations working in the Mewat District of Haryana. It has established an Institute of Rural Research and Development (IRRAD) in Gurgaon, Haryana which has four centers; the first one for Program Implementation, the second one for Rural Research, the third one for Policy, Governance and Advocacy, and the fourth one for Capacity Building of the villagers.
IRRAD's mission is to implement Integrated Sustainable Village Development (ISVD) in select village clusters, build capacity in rural development, undertake rural research, improve village governance, and serve as a premier knowledge institution for rural development and poverty reduction in India. IRRAD implements programs and conducts research in the following areas: (a)Water Management; (b) Rural Health; (c) Income Enhancement including Agriculture; (d) Life Skills Education; and (e) Alternative Energy.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Sehgal Foundation is looking to hire their Program Leader , Water Management.
