Posted on 29 Jan, 2013 12:09 PMThe Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, is in the process of preparation of Manual on Storm Water Drainage systems, so as to guide the public health engineers across the country in designing and operation and maintenance of Storm Water Drainage systems. To facilitate the process, Ministry intends to invite Expression of Interest (EoI) from resourceful agencies to provide support services to the Expert Committee in the preparation of manual.
Scope of work
The agency has to draft contents of Manual as advised by the Expert Committee and has also to edit, browse and download relevant contents of the various manuals across the globe in the field and incorporate useful material in the proposed manual after studying and analysing the same suiting to Indian conditions. Agency has also to conduct meetings, preparing agenda, editing and circulating the comments of the meetings, as well as comments received from Members, to all concerned and incorporating the comments in the manual, thus, leading to preparation of Manual complete in all respects.

The Global Development Awards and Medals Competition
The Global Development Awards and Medals Competition is an innovative award scheme launched by GDN with generous support from the Ministry of Finance, Government of Japan, and other donors. Since its inception in 2000, GDN has provided US$ 3.6 million in research and travel grants to finalists and winners. Winners are chosen by an eminent jury at 14th GDN’s Global Development Conference; an event attended by over 500 practitioners in the field of development to whom the finalists present their proposals/papers.
Competition categories
The competition accepts submissions in three categories:
Category 1: Japanese Award for Most Innovative Development Project (MIDP)
MIDP is a competitive grant program that provides development practitioners with the opportunity to compete for grants worth US$ 45,000 to help scale up their innovative project*. The grants are awarded to projects and/or non-governmental organizations that are supporting improved service delivery, in particular, innovative approaches and meet certain set criteria.
First Prize: US$ 30,000; Second Prize: US$ 10,000; Third Prize: US$ 5,000

National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is a premier institute for research, training and information dissemination in urban development and management.
Background
The National Institute of Urban Affairs is the National Coordinator for the PEARL initiative. PEARL or ‘Peer Experience and Reflective Learning’ initiative was launched on 31st January 2007 at Hyderabad. It is a programme that enables effective sharing of knowledge (related to planning; implementation; governance and; sustainability of urban reforms and other infrastructure projects) among the cities that are being supported by JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission).
A number of tasks have been planned to achieve the objectives of the programme, ‘Knowledge Support for PEARL’. One of the key tasks encompassed by this programme is Documentation of Good Practices in various thematic areas related to planning; governance and service delivery.

The Fellowship
The INTACH (Delhi chapter) Fellowship is established on 19 November 2012 to mark the 'Heritage Week' celebrations at INTACH. A three-month research fellowship will be offered on an annual basis by the Centre for Conservation Training and Capacity Building located at INTACH headquarters in New Delhi. This Fellowship is being established by the Delhi chapter of INTACH to support the activities of the centre in the Delhi NCR region.
