Rajasthan High Court orders strict action against those threatening Udaipur lakes
 The Rajasthan High Court has ordered the Udaipur administration, including the Udaipur Municipal Council and Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) to take strict action against those who are directly or indirectly causing a threat to the Lakes of Udaipur, known to be the lifeline of the city. The judgement came in the context of illegal commercial and residential constructions in and around Lake Fateh Sagar, Lake Pichhola and Lake Udaisagar.

NTCA suggests formation of fifth tiger reserve in Tamil Nadu
The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has suggested the formation of a fifth tiger reserve in Tamil Nadu by combining the Grizzled Giant Squirrel Sanctuary in Srivilliputhur, the Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary and Varushanadu Valley in Theni district. The contiguity of these sanctuaries with Kerala’s Periyar Tiger Reserve  and the increased tiger sightings here have prompted the suggestion.

Global Warming upsetting biological clocks of species
Global warming is upsetting the biological clocks of snakes, birds, and fish, warn naturalists. The change,  is most apparent with respect to the rise in sea level and tidal cycles. Many migratory species have been found to migrate at the wrong time since they do not perceive the passage from one season to another. This is especially threatening the reproduction and breeding of several species, many of whom are seen laying eggs and nurturing their brood beyond their reproduction and breeding seasons.
 
Garbage mounds grow in Bangalore as contractor mafia holds city to ransom
With the garbage disposal system collapsing in Bangalore, the city is left with mounds of garbage with trucks left with no place to go. The impasse started some time ago when contractors opposed to the new segregation policy introduced by the Bangalore municipal corporation started dumping garbage in parts of the city. The arrival of the festive season of Dassara and Id is feared to worsen matters.
