National Water Academy training programmes now open to Indian citizens



 

National Water Academy (NWA)

National Water Academy (NWA) is a training institution of the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India. NWA conducts training programs that cover all aspects of water resources development and management at basin scale, viz. hydrology, hydrometry and telemetry; flood management; investigation, planning and formulation of river valley projects; environmental and social aspects of river valley projects; design of dams /barrages /canals /gates/ hydro-power structures and FEM; dam safety and instrumentation; GIS and Remote Sensing; Hydro-informatics; IWRM; Water Policy; etc.

The training programs are typically one week to two weeks duration. NWA has its own self contained campus in the lush green environs of Khadakwasla, about 15 Km from the Pune city center, with hostel facilities for outstation participants.

Till now NWA’s focus was on employees of Central and State government departments. Starting October 2010, NWA programs are open to all Indian citizens - viz. employees of Central and State government PSUs; Academicians, NGOs, Media persons, private sector employees; or individuals. A few select programs are also open for foreign nationals. In addition to their regular programs, NWA also conducts custom made training programs for clients, Indians as well as foreign, at NWA or also at client’s location.
