Description:

The event will attract global thinkers engaged in innovative evaluation research, theorizing, or practice who seek opportunities to push their thinking in new directions and are interested in applying their ideas in a South Asian context. It will also include leading development theorists, thinkers, activists and policy makers from South Asia to embed discussions in current development issues and contexts that evaluation must respond to.

Cap-Net is an international network for capacity building in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). It includes a partnership of autonomous international, regional and national institutions and networks committed to capacity building in the water sector.

This presentation deals with the projects implemented by Paharpur Business Centre and Software Technology Incubator Park (PBC-STIP), New Delhi towards reduction in potable water consumption through its projects on water closet replacement, waterless urinal and sensor tap.

The other potable water savings projects of PBC-STIP include dish washer (GE make), soap free water for gardening, use of native plant species, drip irrigation, hydroponics culture for growing plants and use of conductivity meter. Its initiative in water conservation runs across all verticals and it engages with the supply chain to sensitize them on water issues.

WESTERN GHATS are the mighty walls created by the nature.

By providing separate water meter to each flat at apartments, wastage of water which is being now observed can be avoided and WATER can very well be saved at each minute each day!

PRESENT SITUATION.

This report by the Water and Sanitation Programme (WSP) draws attention to the fact that a very high percentage (40%) of the population in the world does not have access to basic level of sanitation, which has serious health consequences and puts a considerable economic burden on the poor. The report explores the issue of what can be the most appropriate financing mechanisms to meet the sanitation needs of the poor.

The policy paper examines the condition of community toilet in terms of its infrastructure, operation & maintenance, uses and payment of user charges. The paper is a result of a joint collaboration between Water for Asian Cities (WAC) Programme of UN-HABITAT and the Directorate of Urban Administration & Development, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

In Madhya Pradesh, WAC is supporting Asian Development Bank-financed project in cities of Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore and Jabalpur to improve and expand urban water and sanitation services. This study has been taken up to monitor implementation of the water and sanitation related targets.

Program Name : Open Source GIS - Quantum GIS – 5 Day Training Program

IIT Madras in collaboration with kCube, Chennai is organizing a five day Training Program on Open Source GIS – Quantum GIS.

Institute of Rural Research and Development (IRRAD) organised "Jal Chetna Yatra" where three groups started the yatra from three different blocks of Mewat on 19th March, sensitizing the community towards water issues and collect at the district headquarters on 22nd March, World Water Day.
