As temple tanks go, this one is quite beautiful. It is a rectangular masonry-lined tank, about the size of a badminton court. Brick steps lead down to the water. On one of its longer sides is a lovely old temple, shaded by mango trees. Groups of men and women sit and gossip in the coolness. Facing them is an avenue of large trees, below which sit contemplative buffaloes.

प्राचीन वैदिक काल में ही नहीं बल्कि मध्यकाल और उसके बाद के समय में भी जल विकास और संचयन के क्षेत्रों में उत्कृष्ट निर्माण कार्य किए गए। जल विकास और संचयन के अनेक प्रमुख कार्य तो स्वाधीनता संग्राम के साथ-साथ ही चलाए गए जिनके निर्माण में भारतीय इंजीनियरों, स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों, रजवाड़ों और राजघरानों के शासकों और अनेक अज्ञात नायकों ने उल्लेखनीय सफलताएँ प्राप्त करके देश में अपनी अमिट छाप लगा दी। Not only in the ancient Vedic period but also in the medieval period and thereafter, excellent construction works were done in the fields of water development and harvesting. Many major works of water development and harvesting were carried out simultaneously with the freedom struggle, in the construction of which Indian engineers, freedom fighters, rulers of princely states and royal families and many unknown heroes achieved remarkable successes and left their indelible mark in the country.
