CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), established in 1958 with its headquarters at Nagpur and at present having five Zonal Laboratories across the country, is one of the constituent Institutes of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), a premier multi-disciplinary R&D organization in India which is an autonomous body of the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research under the aegis of the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
The admission requirements for the PhD program in the science stream are:
- MSc preferably in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Geology, Geo-informatics, Earth Sciences, Material Science, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and Ecology
- The students must have qualified for a UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR/BINC/INSPIRE or any other fellowship.
Similarly, the admission requirements for the PhD program in the engineering stream are:
- ME/MTech/Post graduate degree in Engineering preferably from Environmental, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Water resource, Geotechnical engineering subjects
- The students must have qualified for a UGC/CSIR/ any other fellowship.
M.Tech (PGRPE) in Environmental Systems Engineering and Modelling:
NEERI offers post graduate programme in environmental systems engineering and modelling for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology.
Application procedure and interview schedule:
Candidates applying to the PhD program who fulfill the requirements may apply online at the NEERI/CSIR websites. The interviews will be held during June 27-29, 2011 at NEERI. Outstation students should come prepared to stay in Nagpur for three days to complete the selection process.
