The Peer Experience and Reflective Learning (PEARL) is a platform for networking among Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) cities under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD). This is “to create manageable networks between JNNURM cities for cross-learning and sharing knowledge on urban reforms and governance”. The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is the National Coordinator for this programme. The ‘Knowledge Support’ component of PEARL is supported by Cities Alliance. This position is available within this component.
About the position
The post of Research Associate is purely contractual and initially the contract would be for six months period and extendable by six months.
Professional responsibilities
S/he would primarily be responsible for assessing; analyzing and documenting best practices in urban reforms from JNNURM cities. S/he will also be responsible for organizing workshops relevant to the project and assist her/his seniors on various project related tasks. The responsibility would also include support/conduct of capacity building activities and performing any other official duty as and when assigned. The candidate would be expected to travel extensively within the country for documentation of projects.
Educational qualifications and experience
- Post graduate degree/ diploma in urban/ regional planning or Economics or Social Sciences from a recognized university.
- Having 4-5 years of relevant experience with knowledge of urban sector issues preferably in the area of urban reforms under JNNURM.
- Understanding of concepts and tools of JNNURM
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills and work across a range of relevant sectors.
- Strong oral and written skills in English and demonstrated ability to produce high quality reports.
Remuneration
A consolidated salary in the range of Rs. 40,000 – Rs. 50,000/- per month based on qualification and experience may be expected.
