Aaranyak is a registered society working in the field of biodiversity conservation in North East India since 1989. Its strength lies in applied research in biological and social field and its thrust area of work is the North Eastern India and Eastern Himalayas.
This training is designed to disseminate knowledge about geo-spatial technology and its application in the field of biodiversity conservation for conservation biologist. The objective of this short term training course is to make the participants familiar with the technology and utility of geo-informatics in the field of biodiversity conservation. This course hopes to bring about a basic understanding of the relevant topics for new as well as middle level technical personnel, who are entrusted with the responsibility of planning, mapping and implementation of plans related to conservation of biological diversity.
Course Structure:
The course is modular in structure and provides a balanced treatment of theory, application and practical experience are:
- Remote Sensing,
- Aerial Survey,
- GIS (Geographic Information Science),
- GPS (Global Positioning System). Three days live project will be assigned to participants to make them more understandable of the subject.

Short listed participants will be informed via email on or before 15th August, 2011. Mode of payment will be preferably wire transfer. However payments can also be made on the 1st day of the course, provided participants register online or via email. The course fee includes accommodation (twin share), food (breakfast, lunch & dinner), course materials, cost of field work/trip, etc.
