Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF), is a Delhi based not-for-profit organization to find solutions to bridge the digital divide. The mission is to enable communities to be aware and conscious of the utility and necessity of using ICT for their upliftment and empowerment. That ICT is a great tool for development and empowerment is being realized by its various stakeholders.
Description:
Manthan Award is a first of its kind initiative in India to recognize the best practices in e-content and creativity. The core objective of the Manthan Award process is: making visible the contents that already exist and thus demonstrating the richness and diversity of content creativity to those interested in understanding and planning an information society.
The Award wants to demonstrate to every stakeholder the existing range of creativity and excellence in the use of the IT tools and communication networks. It seeks to substantiate the conviction that access to networks and ICT platforms is beneficial to the high quality and value of e-contents which are produced and available.
Qualification:
The Manthan Award is open to any of the following in the content industry in the SAARC countries -
- Governments
- Individuals/Students
- Entrepreneurs
- Industry (Private Sector Companies/Corporates)
- Academician and Academic institutions
- NGOs
Venue:
The Awards will take place in India Habitat Centre, New Delhi (India), on Thursday & Friday, December 1 & 2, 2011.
Duration:
Four dedicated summits will happen along with the above session-
- eNGO summit
- Wireless for communities summit
- eMSME summit
- Digital panchayat summit
This two day program will also hold -
- Special conference & exposition on mobile for women
- Manthan digital bazaar
First day of the award ceremony will start with an inaugral session leading to the few parallel sessions during which winners & handpicked nominations from Manthan Award South Asia - 2011 will share & showcase their projects followed by a group or topic discussion.
The second day will start with the parallel sessions followed by a special roundtable discussion. The evening session will be the Manthan Award South Asia Evening Gala-2011 where all the winners & handpicked nominations from MASA will be awarded.
