Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology is looking for junior research fellows at Cochin – Apply by August 2, 2011

Centre for Marine Living Resources and EcologyCentre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology (CMLRE), Cochin  under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India has been organizing, co-ordinating and promoting ocean development activities in the country which inter-alia include mapping of the living resources, preparing inventory of commercially exploitable living marine resources, their optimum utilization through ecosystem management and R&D in basic sciences on Marine Living Resources and Ecology.

Under the Sustainable Indian Ocean Biogeochemical and Ecological Research (SIBER) and Marine Living Resources (MLR) programs of Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology (CMLRE), Cochin, the following JRF positions are to be filled up based on walk-in interview to be held on 4th August 201 1 at 10 AM at CMLRE, Cochin.

  • Junior research fellow: Essential qualifications - First class M.Sc in chemical oceanography/analytical chemistry/hydrochemistry/environmental science or equivalent from any recognized university. Desirable - Knowledge on biogeochemical processes in the coastal and deep-sea regions and sophisticated analytical instruments like HPLC, TOC analyser, elemental analyser, gas chromatograph, etc.

  • Junior research fellow: Essential qualifications - First class M.Sc in marine biology/zoology/environmental science or equivalent from any recognized university. Desirable - Knowledge on phytoplankton and zooplankton identification, biogeochemical processes, food-web dynamics, etc.

  • Junior research fellow: Essential qualifications - First class M.Sc in microbiology marine biology zoology/ environmental science or equivalent from any recognized university. Desirable - Knowledge on bacterial identification, their metabolism, culturing, food web dynamics, biogeochemical processes, etc.

  • Junior research fellow: Essential qualifications - First class M.Sc in fishery biotechnology/marine biology/zoology or equivalent from any recognized university. Desirable - Knowledge on marine fishes taxonomy, identification, their dynamics, marine biotechnology, etc.
