भारत में करीब 6.2 करोड़ लोग फ्ल्यूरोसिस से पीड़ित हैं, जिनमें से 6 करोड़ से अधिक बच्चे और युवा हैं। इससे पीड़ित युवाओं से करीब २०,००० केवल असम में हैं। अपनी प्राकृतिक खूबसूरती और घने जंगलों के लिए मशहूर कर्बी एंगलांग में आबादी का दसवां हिस्सा दांत या हड्डी के फ्ल्यूरोसिस से पीड़ित हैं। नवा ठाकुरिया की रिपोर्ट।

Posted on 17 Sep, 2008 08:40 AM एजेंसी / सिंगापुर/ प्रदूषित पानी पीने से होने वाली बीमारियों के कारण दुनियाभर में रोजाना 4000 लोगों की मौत हो जाती है। यदि सरकारों ने जल आपूर्ति व्यवस्था को साफ-सुथरा बनाने के ठोस उपाय नहीं किए तो प्रदूषित जल से इस साल करीब 16 लाख लोगों की मौत हो जाएगी। यह चेतावनी विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) ने सोमवार को जारी एक रिपोर्ट में दी है।
