The SaciWATERs joined the Cap-Net Global Network in 2009 as one of its South Asian partners to create the SaciWATERs-CapNet Network (SCaN). SCaN is a platform for partnership towards capacity building in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) across the South Asia region. It consists of autonomous regional and national institutions and individuals committed to capacity building in the water sector. It aims to strengthen the human and institutional capacity by adopting an integrated approach within the water sector in South Asia region through education & training, research, knowledge based development, advocacy and networking.
Cap-Net in collaboration with WMO, Rhama, CapNet-Brasil, and CKNet, is organising a Global Training of Trainers (ToT) course in Integrated Urban Flood Management in the context of IWRM. The course will be held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, from 7 to 11 November, 2011. The concept note and preliminary programme are attached.
SCaN has also been invited to send their nominations. Nominated participants should be SCaN members, active in water management capacity building and are willing to take this subject further within the network at the regional or national level. They should be experienced trainers with experience in some aspects of flood management in the context of water management. Travel and per diem costs of selected applicants will be covered by the project. Only selected applicants will be informed.
Interested candidates can send with their CVs and motivation letters by 25 September 2011 to jayati@saciwaters.org. Please note that obtaining a visa for Brazil is the participant's responsibility. CapNet-Brasil and IPH/UFRGS will provide support such as an invitation letter, and Cap-Net can provide a letter stating that travel, per diem and insurance for the programme are covered.
