Organizer: Toxics Link
Description:
Toxics Link, an environmental NGO, is dedicated to bringing toxics related information into the public domain, both relating to perspectives from the ground as well as exchanging global information. We have been involved in the area of Municipal, Medical and Hazardous waste management issues for several years now. Electronic waste (E-waste) has been another important issue that Toxics Link has been engaging in for last few years and the organisation has been actively involved in the Rules formulation as well.
In the above context, Toxics Link feels the need to facilitate discussions and information exchange on E-waste management among the key stakeholders in Hyderabad. We are happy to invite you to a One Day Workshop on "E-waste Management", on 24th of November in Hyderabad, in association with Guide Foundation For Development. The workshop aims to discuss the issue and develop wider understanding of practices on E-waste management in the city and the state of Andhra Pradesh.
One Day Workshop on "E-Waste Management". Electronic and Electrical equipments have become a part of our everyday life in recent times and its use has increased manifold in the last two decade. Though it has brought technology to common man, there is a downside- E-waste. E-waste is emerging as a critical waste issue in India, with the growing quantity of waste and the concerns arising out of the toxic nature of this waste. There is growing recognition of the E-waste problem in India at the national level and the Ministry of Environment and Forest has recently notified E-Waste (Handling and Management) Rules, 2011, which will become effective from May 2012.
