The available water resources would be inadequate to meet the future water needs of all sectors. Therefore, to meet the challenge of water shortage, it is imperative to properly manage the present water resources and suitably adopt various water conservation methods. India needs to evolve a water management framework that promotes the efficient use of the resource and facilitate the voluntary transfer of water in response to changing societal needs. Water India 2011 is being organized to understand and promote the various technologies, best practices and tools available to transform the Municipal and Industrial water landscape.
