About the Mapathon
The Mapathon 2013 is designed to encourage participants to map their neighborhoods and places they care about within the geographical boundaries of India. Eligible Indian residents having attained the age of majority are invited to use their personal knowledge and enthusiasm to map accurate geographical information in Google Maps for India.
The contest is intended to reflect the local knowledge of users and allows Entrant(s) to add and edit map data on high resolution geographic imagery provided by Google. The drawing and annotation tools enable an Entrant to draw roads and features that are visible in the imagery, and label these items based on personal knowledge of a region, city, or town. Additionally, Entrant may use it to create points of interest, such as a school, business, or community feature, and to locate and describe points of interest.
The contest is sponsored by Google Inc.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible:
a) Entrant must be a resident of India (e.g., must be able to show proof of legal permanent residence, if asked for.);
b) Entrant must have attained the age of majority.
c) Google employees, Google Map Maker Regional expert reviewers, Google Map Maker advocates, interns, contractors, and official office-holders, as well as their immediate families, Google, its affiliates, and any representatives or agencies of Google or other persons professionally connected with the contest are not eligible to participate.
Registration
Entrant must register themselves using the online registration procedure provided. Google will not accept registration requests received by any other route.

Prizes
- Top 10 winners will each win Samsung Galaxy Note 800 or a tablet approximately worth INR 36000 /-
- Next 40 winners will each win Samsung Smart Phone I-9100 Galaxy S2 or an Android phone approximately worth INR 24000 /-
- Next 50 winners will each win FlipKart Gift Coupons worth INR 5000 /-
- All above 100 winners will also be entitled to a T-shirt and Certificate of Participation from Google.
- There will also be another 900 T-shirts and Certificate of Participation to be won from Google for the subsequent maximum number of approved edits/ data submitted
- 300 special contest promotion T-shirts (50 T-shirts to be won every week by Raffle’s winners during the contest period).
Announcement of winners will be made on contest website around 23rd July 2013.
