COVID-19 pandemic has created a new need for water, namely for continuous disinfection. Periodic hand washing and washing commonly used spaces is going to be part of our daily routine for some years to come. Water utilization will increase, about 3-10 litres per day per person and it will stress the already stressed water networks. Along with it, more detergents and disinfectants will add into our ecosystem, together making a long-term impact.
Obviously, new questions are going to surface. What will be the impact of COVID-induced disinfection on our water system? What will be the additional impact of detergents? What will be the best detergent for this purpose, with reduced water/environmental impact? Can one practice hygiene during water scarcity? Are our water resources safe in this pandemic? Can there be new products and opportunities for the industry? What are the safe practices?
These and many questions need an international debate. We plan to have four webinars, one per week for four weeks, each one discussing one specific issue.
The International Centre for Clean Water (ICCW) hosts this webinar series to bring in thought- leaders, water professionals and scientists together to discuss water challenges and needs during and post COVID-19.
A panel of experts will distill the current scenario and deliver up-to-date information for knowledge and action.
