Increased heatwave conditions are more prominent in central and northern India

India Metrological Department (IMD) declares a heatwave based on temperature data. A heatwave is declared when the highest temperature at a station surpasses 45 degrees Celsius. If it exceeds 47 degrees Celsius it is referred to as a severe heatwave.
