Secure Water is a Decision Support Tool for practitioners and policy makers concerned with Swajaldhara, India's community-managed rural water supply programme. Based on the 4-phases of Swajaldhara, the DST outlines the activities involved in each phase, the poverty-livelihood- gender issues that implementers are likely to face during implementation, and how to tackle these issues, based on case studies and examples from projects around the country.
Main sub-components covered in the four phase:
- Swajaldhara: Start Up Phase, Planning Phase, Implementation Phase, Operation and Maintenance Phase
- Cross-Cutting Themes: Demand Responsive Approaches, Sustainability in India, Addressing Poverty, Gender

This online tool has been facilitated by the Overseas Development Institute - Water Policy Programme, which works on linking high quality research with practical policy advice on water issues with a bearing on poverty.
