This article in the Indian Journal of Public Health is a case study on negative effects on fluoride on 12- 15 years old school going children. It sheds light on the prevalence and severity of dental caries and dental fluorosis among the children in several areas of Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh.
The article first spells out the details of the methodology followed to obtain required information on the issue. Based on which it elaborates on how the data was organised and analysed. The article then goes on to present the results of the study. The myriad aspects of the results are given in tables.
The paper concludes by stating that there is a negative correlation between fluoride concentration and dental carries for the samples that was the part of the study. However in the areas where there was high fluoride level there was a positive correlation. Hence water defluoridation is the need of the hour because of the prevalence of dental fluorosis.
