Let's talk about soil: A short educational movie by the Global Soil Partnership

The film begins with a short explanation of the genesis of soil before moving on to its vulnerability. Some of the facts it narrates are eye opening. The earth's processes create 10cm of topsoil in 2 millennia; human processes destroy 24 million tons of this precious matter in one year alone.
It ends with three simple maxims by which we can safeguard our soil:

• Soil is an organism, not a factory
• Every individual has a right to soil
• Unrestrained urbanization is not viable

Simple, but highly effective graphics and an uncluttered storyline are the most important characteristics of this five and a half minute movie. These ensure that the film is a valuable teaching tool.
