Gender and Water Alliance's Activities for World Water Forum

Guest Post by: Sara Ahmed, Gender and Water Alliance Various organizations have joined hands at the Fifth World Water Forum in Istanbul to form the Women and Gender Coalition (WGC). This is convenient for mainstreaming gender, and for organizing the Major Group Women. The Women and Gender Coalition is confident that the 5th World Water Forum will again result in significant steps forward to gender inclusive and participatory IWRM and WATSAN. The Gender and Water Alliance has charted out a strategy for the World Water Forum. It will have a stall in the Water Expo and daily meetings of the Women's Caucus from 8-9 AM in the Feshane Congress Area. We also take this opportunity to announce our forthcoming training programmes, The Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, South Asian Consortium for Interdisciplinary Water Resources Studies (SaciWATERs), Hyderabad, Society for Promoting Participative Ecosystem Management (SOPPECOM), Pune, and the Gender and Water Alliance (GWA) are organizing a training programme on Gender, Water and Equity on 27 April , 1 May, 2009, in Nepal and late October , early November in Sri Lanka.
