Floods completely cut off North Sikkim, as death toll mounts in the North East
The situation in the North-east has grown grim with landslides and floods claiming 30 lives, and completely cutting off North Sikkim from the rest of the country. Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have also lost many lives to  landslides and floods following unprecedented heavy rain. Among the dead were many personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police ( ITBP) and  the Border Roads Organization (BRO). The highest death toll has been reported from Sikkim, where landslides have killed 27 people in just 48 hours.

Bhopal reels under swine flu as many more cases are detected in city
The swine flu toll climbed up to 7 in Bhopal, with another death on Saturday night. Meanwhile,  27 of the 30 cases undergoing treatment in city hospitals have been reported as critical.

Thiruvanthapuram sewerage system to be upgraded at a whopping cost of Rs 52 crore
The sewerage system in the Kerala capital of Thiruvanthapuram will be upgraded at a cost  of Rs 52 crore. The up-gradation will be undertaken in two phases, and shall involve the setting up of a sewage treatment plant at Valiathura. The government will also put up a drinking water supply project under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) at Rs 82 crore.
