This set of maps compares the river-basin wise water resources availability in 1991, with projected figures for 2025 and 2050.
As per the international criterion for classification, less than 1700 (cu.m / capita / year ) is considered as water stressed.
In India the water availability is 1000 (cu.m / capita / year ). This indicates that 70% of global area, including large part of India will become water stressed by 2025.
