Description:
The Operations Manager will set up a solid waste management franchise serving household waste management needs and employing waste pickers in a city between 80,000 to 500,000 people.
We are looking for a handful of exceptional individuals for the position of Operations Managers with a proven track record of self-starting projects while showing operational aptitude.
Qualifications:
- At least two years of demonstrated field work experience at a social enterprise, multilateral institution or field office of a corporation
- Past experience creating a new service line or organization is a strong plus
- Strong academic aptitude preferably mixed with practical Post Graduate studies from programs at TISS, IRMA, or ISB
- Have a strong social motivation and the compassion to work in solid waste management with waste pickers
Required Skills:
- Able to speak, read and write English, Hindi and the local language
- Knowledge of computers with excellence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and regular email facility is essential
- Comfort with spreadsheets and basic financial reporting
- Able to manage a multifaceted and challenging project with little supervision
- Good communication skills is a must to succeed at Waste Ventures
Responsibilities:
Establish local garbage services for households, hire waste pickers to collect the waste, process waste, and sell compost and recyclables
- Establish household demand for waste management services and willingness to pay
- With support from Waste Ventures business and technical experts:
- Organize waste pickers as household collection staff and assign route
- Procure space for collection and processing operations
- Set up processing unit consisting of composting shed and Materials Recovery Facility
- Market compost and recyclables to local customers
- Maintain meticulous management of accounting system with regular reporting to Delhi headquarters
