Arghyam Trust based in Bangalore, (www.arghyam.org) focuses solely on water and sanitation with an emphasis on domestic water. We are looking to employ a young dynamic person to be a core member of a new Research & Developmentgroup.
Out of Arghyam's past work, the following have emerged as areas in which to pursue a research agenda:Â Ecological Sanitation, Wastewater Treatment and Water Quality. The new hire will be expected to understand thoroughly the state of the technology in these areas, identify gaps in solution space and identify and fund research projects in these areas.
We are looking for an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences or a related field or a B.Tech/M.Tech/Ph.D. in Environmental or Civil Engineering or related engineering field, with atleast 2 years and upto 10 years of work experience.
The person we are looking for would be highly dynamic, have a strong work ethic and show personal initiative. A sound understanding of the scientific and engineering principles involved is needed. We are looking for a person with strong social commitment and good communication skills.
Initial tasks will include:
* Do a literature survey in the areas identified above, and talk to experts and others in the field to write a white paper on the current status of sustainable solutions in the area and research gaps.
* Under supervision, to create partnerships with relevant organisations in these fields whom we will fund to execute relevant research projects or pilot projects.
* Manage the projects and closely follow their technical and social aspects, to capture the learnings and implications in order to apply at a broader level.

Pay will be competitive in the sector and commensurate with ability and experience. A 1 year full-time consultancy position is offered with extension/conversion to permanent employee to be considered after a year. An immediate permanent employee role is possible for exceptional candidates.
