The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation complements the efforts of the State Governments in providing safe drinking water and sanitation to the rural masses of India. Programmes for drinking water supply and sanitation have been under implementation ever since the inception of the first five year plan.
The department requires the services of the outside experts/retired government servants for appointment as non-official consultant.
Job description:
The job involves the following responsibilities:
- Status of demand and supply of sanitation in rural areas and their associated Gram Panchayats and identify gaps in service level, quality, coverage and access
- Assessment of sustainability of households toilets constructed based on existing sources
- Assessment of usage of toilets
- Quality of construction of toilets in schools and anganwadis
Qualification:
- Master Degree Env.Engg./sociology/health/PHE/PSM or similar degree in equivalent discipline
- Ph.D (Env. Engg.)/science/MS/preventive/social medicine
- At least 15 years experience in sanitation
- Experience in collection, compilation and analysis of statistical data, computer skills and preparation of project reports/reviews/notes/briefs etc.
