Background
Natural resource management issues have been at the centre of policy debates as well environmental justice movements. Development requires not only better global economic conditions but also a cleaner environment, with sustainable use of natural resources such as land, water, soil, energy and minerals and their security at both the global and national level including availability, affordability and accessibility to all. Natural resource exploitation and economic activities have played a role in fuelling many violent conflicts.
About the course
This twelve week blended learning program will unpack some of key policies and practices related to natural resource management for sustainable development. The program follows an interdisciplinary approach and is enriched by audio, video, and interactive web-based content.
It uses the latest information and communication technology (ICT) tools and techniques and also employs a unique format of learning through video conferencing by utilizing the facilities of Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) - an initiative started and developed by the World Bank in 2000.

How will you learn?
This e-learning course applies a unique blended approach combining the below methods to enhance your learning:
- Video conference lectures by world renowned subject experts. Eight 21/2 to 3 hour video conference sessions will be conducted at local GDLN (Global Development Learning Network, initiated by the World Bank in 2000) centers including introductory and concluding sessions. Video conference sessions will feature the theme topics in the module, and would link together the following countries: India, Japan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam (Hanoi) and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City). These sessions will also be webcast live on the internet for those unable to attend at any of the country venues and the participants can interact live during the video conferences through email/ chat.
- Self-paced study: Video recorded lectures, academic article and other handout materials & resources will be available for viewing on the program website for self-paced study. You would need to put in 100-120 learning hours for study spread over the twelve-week program.
- Interactivity: Quizzes, tests, assignments, tutoring, and e-discussion provided on-line to communicate with experts and other participants.

The fee is US$ 200 per participant
Scholarship
20-40% scholarship may be offered to undergraduate students, unemployed and low income participants.
