Malnutrition remains a significant issue in Kendujhar district, Odisha. According to the National Family Health Survey-5, approximately 33 percent of children under the age of five exhibit stunting, indicative of chronic malnutrition in Kendujhar. Additionally, 45 percent of children in the same age group are underweight.

 The National symposium on System of Rice Intensification: Present Status - Future Prospects was held on the 17-18th November 2006 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

System of Rice Intensification, popularly known as SRI method, is gaining popularity among paddy farmers in several states in the country in recent times for its potential to save water and increase yields.

These PROTOONS were produced as part of various engagements of WASSAN with Watershed Development projects and Rainfed Agriculture. DFID I; Commissionerate of Rural Development (GoAP); Ford Foundation; HIVOS; District Water Management Agencies; Mandal Mahila Samakhyas; various NGOs, Resource persons, villagers and several others contributed in developing these PROTOONS.

There isn't a lot of humour we have come across so far, in the water sector. Here is something though, from WASSAN (www.wassan.org) WASSAN has a set of cartoons on their site, based on their watershed project experiences.
