Groundwater quality assessment by chemical methods is practised in many parts of the world. However,  an new technique - Electrical Resistivity Tomography is emerging, which is proving highly useful for demarcation of groundwater quality.

The following paper, presents some findings of using this approach  in Tirupur region of Tamilnadu.
