Rooftop RWH structure
In 2007, due to an unusual gap between rains we were faced with a very difficult situation with respect to water availability. On account of that bitter experience we decided to go in for a rain water harvesting set up at our place. I am furnishing here the slides & photos of my home RWH set up. We are able to use the water through out the year for drinking, cooking etc.
The terrace measures around 100 square metres. A 1000 litres tank with ready made cement rings is located just outside the kitchen. Another 5000 litres tank is beside the bathroom. Overflow from this tank fills up in an underground sump with a 6000 litres capacity below the portico.
Except for the sump, the whole RWH arrangement cost around Rs.12,000.
