It is placed at the head of the Bay of Bengal where weather is formed. So even a slight change in the sea?s behaviour can have an immediate impact on the coast. Going by the key parameters of climate like temperature and rainfall , the climate may worsen in Orissa. The full impact of climate change does not show up immediately. It triggers changes slowly but certainly.

The study of Subansiri river since the beginning of the 20th century. The river channel seems to make a remarkable change from a meandering pattern in 1920 towards a braided pattern by 1990 as seen from gradual increase in overall braiding intensity.
