This handbook by Water and Sanitation Program, World Bank seeks to address the gap existing in the programmatic aspects of waste management in rural areas. It focuses on planning, institutional, community mobilization and financial dimensions of implementing waste management program.

Description
The objective of this programme is to build capacity and create awareness among regulators, developers, consultants, NGOs, students and academics to understand wastewater treatment process, technologies and affordable treatment options. The programme further aims at evaluating the performance and design parameters along with the applicable cost implication associated with each treatment system.

I have made a reed bed for treating bath,wash basin and washing machine water. The aim was to reuse the water for gardening without doing major changes in the plumbing of existing houses. After close to two years from the first post here is an update:

While the whole globe is enjoying its fishy favorites, very few are taking into account that there’s something else lurking in the water: Garbage.

India’s rapidly growing economy is driving increased water usage across different sectors. Various estimates and projections indicate an increasing trend in water demand for agriculture, industrial and domestic uses in the coming decades.
