Recycled municipal solid waste improves soil productivity and sustainability
Posted on 11 Aug, 2023 07:48 PMSocio-economic changes like population pressure, industrialization, migration, and urbanisation have led to a significant increase in municipal solid waste in India. Solid waste generation is about 0.1 kg, 0.3–0.4 kg, and 0.5 kg per capita per day in small, medium, and large cities and towns in India, respectively (CPCB, 2005).

Study reveals the increasing cost of debt caused by climate change
Posted on 07 Aug, 2023 12:57 PMClimate change will increase the cost of sovereign and corporate debt worldwide, according to new research led by the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the University of Cambridge. Published today in the journal Management Science, the study is the first to anchor climate science within “real world” financial indicators. It suggests that 59 nations will experience a drop in sovereign credit r

Smaller farm sizes limit the impact of agricultural intensification in Eastern India
Posted on 29 Jul, 2023 04:40 PMAgricultural intensification and irrigation development have been considered vital for achieving food security, climate action, and poverty reduction in small holder dominated poverty hotspots of the Eastern Gangetic Plains (EGP) in South Asia informs this paper titled 'Farm size limits agriculture’s
Wading through stagnant waters can be risky
Posted on 27 Jul, 2023 10:15 AMThe monsoon can drench besides forcing you to wade through flooded stagnant waters in cities or make you to start working happily in the rice fields in rural areas. Rainwater puddles in the fields or stagnant waters in cities are often mixed with water from animal and rodent waste, and sewage in urban areas. Do you know that this can cause diseases such as leptospirosis?

Fourteen Indian states have better resilience to floods
Posted on 14 Jul, 2023 09:58 PMApproximately 66% of individuals in India are exposed to extreme flood events. However, only 33% of the exposed individuals are covered by flood early warning systems (EWS), according to a new report released by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) recently.

Study of Earth’s stratosphere reduces uncertainty in future climate change
Posted on 28 Jun, 2023 07:19 PMNew research led by the University of East Anglia (UEA) reduces uncertainty in future climate change linked to the stratosphere, with important implications for life on Earth.
Man-made climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing us today, but uncertainty in the exact magnitude of global change hampers effective policy responses.
